Ingredients
- 4 thick slices of day-old bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons butter for cookingÂ

Step by Step Instructions
Step 1
Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg together
Step 2
Pour the mixture into a shallow dish
Step 3
Place the bread slices into the dish and flip it over so it is evenly coated in the egg mixture
Step 4
Melt the butter in a large non-stick skillet – use about 1/2 a tablespoon for each slice
Step 5
Place the bread in the skillet and gently cook until golden brown on one side
Step 6
Flip the bread over and brown on the other side
Step 7
Remove and serve with your choice of toppingsÂ
