Step by Step Instructions
Step 1: Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius).
Step 2: Toast Nuts and Coconut
Spread the chopped nuts and shredded coconut evenly on a baking sheet. Toast them in the preheated oven for approximately 5 minutes or until they are lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let them cool.
Step 3: Chocolate Chips
Once cooled toss in the chocolate chips
Step 4: Line Baking Pan
Line a 9×9 -inch baking pan with aluminum foil, leaving some overhang for easy removal later.
Step 5: Arrange Graham Crackers
Place the graham crackers in a single layer at the bottom of the prepared baking pan.
Step 6: Prepare Caramel
In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar together over medium heat. Stir continuously until the mixture becomes smooth and starts to bubble. This should take about 5-7 minutes.
Step 7: Pour Caramel Over Crackers
Carefully pour the caramel mixture evenly over the graham crackers in the baking pan. Ensure that the crackers are well-covered. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for approximately 10 minutes, or until the caramel becomes bubbly and slightly darker.
Step 8: Add Nut and Chocolate Mixture
Remove the baking pan from the oven. Sprinkle the toasted nuts, coconut, and chocolate chip mixture evenly over the caramel-covered graham crackers.
Step 9: Cool and Set
Press the mixture into the caramel until it is smooth and the chocolate has melted.
Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. Then, transfer the pan to the refrigerator and let it chill for 2 hours, or until the bars have completely set.
Step 10: Cut and Serve
Once the mixture has set, use the overhanging foil to lift it out of the pan. Place it on a cutting board and using a sharp knife, cut into squares.
Step 11: Dust with Icing Sugar
Using a sieve, dust the squares with icing sugar
Step 12: Enjoy!
