  • 4 tablespoons of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple juice or water
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg

Crisp Topping

  • 3/4 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup butter

Instructions

Apple Layer

  • Peel core and slice your apples

  • Whisk the salt into the flour
  • Rub the butter into the flour until you have a fine crumb
  • Stir in the brown sugar making sure you break up any lumps and then stir in the oats
  • Squeeze the the topping by the handful to make some large clumps
  • Layer the crisp mixture over the apples
  • Bake for 30 - 40 minutes until golden and bubbling
