French Toast

French Toast is such a perfect weekend breakfast or brunch. It's so quick to prepare - golden brown on the outside fluffy on the inside with a delicious bite of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Top it with syrup, berries, or any of your favourite toppings and your weekend breakfast is served:)

Ingredients
  

  • 4 thick slices of day-old bread
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions
 

  • Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg together
  • Pour the mixture into a shallow dish
  • Place the bread slices into the dish and flip it over so it is evenly coated in the egg mixture
  • Melt the butter in a large non-stick skillet - use about 1/2 a tablespoon for each slice
  • Place the bread in the skillet and gently cook until golden brown on one side
  • Flip the bread over and brown on the other side
  • Remove and serve with your choice of toppings
